A soft pendulum of branch weighted with ripening fruit, bobbing under the touch of a questioning hand. Warm morning light revealing new ridge lines with each rise,and fading into gracious chill with new glowing palettes at every set. Leaves yellow as energy moves down, and inward,already anticipating the return of light even as the sun's arc wanes.With each sleep comes richness of dreamtime and the hope of wake. With sadness there is the light of laughter and in great joy the tenderness of pain. We sway and swing, revel and sing.
Pendulum Handwoven Naturally Dyed Raw Silk Shawl by Jeannie Ortiz
This piece was woven by me, here at my home-studio in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico with a warp of organic cotton-linen and a weft of naturally dyed raw silk. Most of the shades were created from black walnut leaves and fruits, a few of the lighter shades came from pecan shucks, various mushrooms, pomegranate skins, alder leaves and other local plants. At each end is a small subtle stripe of raw silk that was dyed with sandalwood. It is 3.3m in length with hand twined fringe on each end.
