Lunch in the depths of an ochre canyon, silty water thick with red mud obscuring fragments of stone. Beneath the caked mud, striations of xylem and phloem are unmistakable. Woodchips, petrified.

Joining these miracles of geology are two tubular fossils (?) of black stone, river tumbled tones, two Indonesian glass beads, freeform tubular knotwork and a sterling silver clasp.

This piece is part of The Movement of Stones Project.
