Delicate roots, spanning time
Geology and the human experience
At the center of this piece resides a Zambian Citrine crystal that I drilled here at my home-studio in New Mexico. The beads accompanying it are a menagerie of antique African beads. Next to the Citrine rest beautiful green watermelon chevron beads, following them around the necklace are cylindrical glass beads originating from the Fulani people in West Africa. The beads are from the late 19th C. and were taken from old necklaces that were falling apart.
At the back is freeform knot work and a sterling silver clasp.
The necklace is 17.5 inches (44.5cm) around.
