This piece is Part 2 of the five part series of cochineal dyed etherial scarves.
Cochineal is an ancient and highly prized dyes originally from this continent, and from these deserts that I call home. It is an honor to be able to work with this amazingly potent dye source.
This scarf measures 31 x 71 inches and was woven on a warp of organic cotton-linen with a weft of raw silk. The fibers were dyed with cochineal, buckthorn and black walnuts.
The oil painting that perfectly matches this piece in the background is by my partner, Kyle Cunningham
