Jeannie Ortiz is a New Mexico based artist who spends her days entangled in the threads of weaving, adornment making, sculpture and intentional movement through the vast beauty of this natural world. Natural fibers, lovingly dyed, are the substance that come to life on her loom. Found stones are at the heart of potent wearable talismans that she brings to life.
The act of creating has been a daily practice for her since childhood, it is an expanding exploration of what it means to be a human, in this place and in this time. Her drive to create is very primal and unwavering.
Ortiz's life is built around a path dedicated to Art. Her handloom and adornment works are collected globally. She and her partner Kyle Parker Cunningham founded Truth or Consequences Contemporary, an emerging art space, studio and gallery in southern New Mexico. It is a living-breathing space centered around community cultivation, idea sharing and Art Study.
