Yellow Rock River

The rivers of Montana are the lines upon which the stories of time in that place are written. Geologic time tumbles over our toes, freezing water pressing it forward.

Rivers too trail markers, their very existence the compass from which to take bearings. Though one must venture into the mountains, one always flows home.

A cairn. A simple stack from which to take bearing and proceed. The beads joining the talisman stones from the Yellowstone River are Indonesian glass beads. The stones were found where the river turns south, entering a valley aptly named Paradise. These pieces are part of The Movement of Stones Project.

The feeling of snowmelt, crystalized in stone.

These stones too are from the Yellowstone river, quartz and some beautiful (and unknown) pebbles joined by Indonesian glass beads and a sterling silver clasp.
