Crystal Raptor Sculptural Necklace
A Crystal Creature to keep you company.
An exploration of form and fiber.
This piece grew from a glass raptor skull I found at the Tucson Gem & Mineral show this year, made by Dutch glass artist Floor Kaspers. (her website is http://www.floorkaspers.nl) Within the skull resides a quartz point.
Running through the skull is a Merino felted sculptural rope. The fiber was dyed with Cochineal, a traditional dye from the American Southwest. At the back is freeform knot work, and a pull-tie closure. From the ties hang agate, crystal and Tibetan Quartz beads.
The necklace is 21-27 inches around (53-68.5 cm).
