Wild Daisy is a custom piece woven on a warp of organic cotton-linen with a weft of hand dyed raw silk. Twined, knotted and braided into the fringe is a menagerie of beads including cowrie shells, raw rubies, water buffalo horn, bone, deer antler as well as handmade ceramic beads and vintage bone and glass beads from around the world.
Falling into a weaving vortex
I cut my first dovetails today; they may not be perfect but they are pretty and functional. Making displays for my new #creations going up in @desertarchaic #gallery for #torcartwalk this weekend. Lots of new weaving and adornment coming right up.
Gently sunny beginnings
Laying out a palette of raw silk
The plums say it’s spring, and so do I. I’ve been trying on all of the new necklace-adornment creations I’ve been making, just to feel them out. 🌞 The verdict is they really feel good, and I’ll have to keep some for myself. The two I’m wearing now have local #petrifiedwood and #limestone #nautalis #fossil that I’ve drilled into beads, along with shell #heishi beads and a few fossilized #dinosaurbone #beads (please dm me if you are interested in either)
The tantalizing sensory explosion of color, shape & form of walking through a Moroccan #marketplace (if only I could evoke the smell of spices and perfumes too)
A gathering of black walnut dyed merino ready to become the next warp on my little(er) loom.
