Bringing to life things I have been dreaming about for a long time… When I dive into uncharted territory I only have a sense of what will come to life. This piece for me marks the beginning of something new in my work, and I am really excited where it will lead. This cloak incorporates two sculptural handwoven merino panels along with handspun-handwoven wool that I brought home from Kinnaur valley in India, edged with hand dyed raw silk. It is intention, protection, a wrap of love.
This piece was woven on a warp of organic cotton-linen with a weft of 3 and 4 ply raw silk. It has a wonderful heavy drape and cozy warmth. Although this piece has already found a new home, I am very much looking forward to creating more pieces like it in the new year. I am really appreciating its simplicity in form and style right now.
Querencia is a representation in cloth of the place where a heart resides. A heart resides among the red rocks, in the dark desert night, beneath the moon, with our loved ones close.
This piece was woven on a warp of organic cotton linen and a weft of naturally dyed cashmere and raw silk, as well as conventionally dyed raw silk. The beautiful orange of the red rocks were dyed with sandalwood, the yellows with marigolds, fustic, blanket flower and pomegranate skins, and the browns came from black walnuts and pecan shucks.
Through the Autumn Vineyard Handwoven Art Yardage – This custom piece is 3.8 m in length, woven on a warp of organic cotton-linen with a weft of hand dyed raw silk. It is a fall stroll through a vineyard in the beautiful Czech Republic, an autumn harvest celebration.
